If you owe money be wary of wage garnishments. I'm losing 25% of my paycheck now, for a debt that I know nothing about, have no idea how much I owe, or anything else. And I can't get anyone to tell me anything about it. If I call the lawyer, I'm referred to the collection agency. If I call the collection agency, I'm referred to the lawyer. No one will say anything about how much I owed in the first place, when I supposedly received bills for it, or anything else. And when I told them I couldn't live on 75% of my check, I was told I should have paid the bill in the first place.
Whatever it is, I would have paid it already, if I'd had the money and if I'd known about it! That's the whole reason it wasn't paid. I didn't have the money! Not to mention not knowing about the damn thing! Not because I was goofing off with my money either. I seriously didn't have it! I paid rent, cable/internet/phone, couch payment, groceries, and gas money to my ride. That's not screwing around with the money. I even shut OFF my cable/internet/phone so I could try and get other things caught up, and can't even do that now.
Plus, my job has decided to start sending my checks to my bank twice, which makes them not credit me for my paychecks until the issue is fixed, usually 24 hours AFTER I'm supposed to get paid. Yeah, so I'm pretty pissed off.
Then I apply for a loan and get told I have to fax them all this information that I can't GET because my bank statements are ONLINE! I can't print them out because when I do, they don't show my account number! So I have to cancel the loan application due to not being able to get the information I need to fax to them. So yeah, I'm pretty darned irritated right now.
I have a friend who I swear, is the best person on the plant for finding ways to get something for nothing. This is the woman who will go out to eat and will insist upon getting a discount or her meal for free if something is not right on it. If she goes on vacation, she finds that absolute BEST hotel deals, plane ticket deals, and car rental prices. She doesn't pay "normal" price for anything. If a hotel's posted price is $34.99 per person per night for a room, she'll manage to get that room for $19,99 per person per night. I swear, she is the biggest "wheeler/dealer" I've EVER seen! I just wish I could do that. Then again, I'm too nice. I might tell the waitress my order's not done right, but I don't expect any credit for it on my bill. I'm weird like that. But I'd love to know how it is my friend is able to get all the great deals and I can't get jack crap. LOL
You know, I see all kinds of different makeup advertised on TV. I see everything from cheap drugstore crap to expensive high-end department store stuff on there. But what I find funny is that when you see an ad for mineral makeup, it's always a late-night infomercial that makes you wonder if it's really worth buying. Well, some of the better known companies are starting to jump on the mineral makeup bandwagon, so I guess I'm going to have to break down and try it one of these days!
To just find somewhere else to be. You know, get a Hilton Head rental and just get out of here and get away from everything! Bills, job, stress, you name it, I probably want to get away from it. I hate that I'm always broke, I hate that I never have enough money to pay everything, and I hate that overtime at work never seems to be when I am available to work it. Grrrrr!
At this point, all I want is a long vacation, no stress, and a lot more money. Too much to ask? Probably so. *sigh*
Ok, we get discounts on various services and at various places, but $5 a month off a cell phone? That's hardly worth it if you ask me. I mean, I'd rather get a sweet deal on ellipticals at this point than a cell phone for $5 a month off. Whooppee! NOT!
I'm telling you, they really should start asking us what WE want, what would make US happy. For example, longer lunches. That would make everyone happy since catered food leaves at 7 and half of us have lunch at 7:30 or 8. DUH people. Get a life, get a brain, etc. Idiots.
And for the record, another thing we want....more computers in the cyberlounge, and WORKING equipment EVERYWHERE. Cyberlounge, our desks, you name it, we want WORKING equipment. This is getting pathetic. And if you need phones in another part of the building....ORDER MORE PHONES. Don't take from an area that could need them later, ORDER MORE. Jeez.
I'm honestly wondering if maybe putting in some exercise equipment in one of the non-used areas of Stream wouldn't be a good idea. Think of it this way. People who spend a lot of time on their butts in front of computers aren't gonna get the exercise they should. It's just common sense. But if the workplace had somewhere that had some stuff like treadmills and a few weights in it, maybe we'd be more inclined to try for better fitness. After all, if you honestly think about it, sure, we can walk a mile in the building by doing so many laps around the upstairs. But truthfully, when you walk that, people look at you like you've lost your ever-loving marbles. :)
Monday is St. Patrick's Day, next Sunday is Easter, and before you know it, Mother's Day and Father's Day will be here. If you have parents, it's probably a good idea to start thinking about what to get them! I don't have parents anymore so I don't have to worry about whether or not Daddy would want Cobra golf stuff or Mom would want books or a knick knack for. Daddy wasn't a golfer really but you get the idea. :) Where has 2008 gone? We're a quarter of the way through it already! UGH! Just tell me where this year has gone!
I'm writing this on something other than my usual computer. I'm writing this on a laptop. Unfortunately it's not mine. :( But it is a laptop. Maybe if I use my best friend's laptop (go here for her blog, but be warned it's not updated often) enough, I'll get used to the keyboard, so when I get my own, I won't have as much problem. My biggest thing is I'm used to the number pad on the right hand side of the screen. When I go to type in numbers, I almost always use the number pad to type them. I even do it at work. I'm really good with the number pad. :) I just wish the laptop had one!
What is it with men and their toys? I really don't get it. Why do men think they need the best electronic stuff they can possibly get, even if they can't afford it? Do they honestly think that we are impressed with all the fancy HD TV's, video game systems, computers, surround sound, and HDMI switches? I mean, really. :) I'm not impressed by that stuff. Nor by fancy cars and big houses.
If a guy has what he needs to get by, and a little left over to do some things he wants to do, then it's all good. At least in my opinion it is. I guess I just never have and never will understand the need to have all sorts of little fancy things like that. They don't mean anything to me, and although yes, I do like my gadgets, it's not like I can't live without them. I waited quite a while to get an iPod, and I rarely use it, so I could definitely live without it if I had to. Maybe it's just me, but I just don't get it.
One of my coworkers is constantly complaining that she can't read her computer screen. Of course, the IT people at work have an absolute cow if you change anything on the computers, so changing her screen resolution to a bigger one isn't an option for her. I told her, she needs to find one of those places that offers cheap glasses and get her eyes checked and get glasses. She admits she needs glasses, but won't go get them.
I don't think it's vanity though, because she says she needs them. I think it's more of a fact that she just doesn't have the money right now, even if they are cheap. After all, I know that feeling. I'm in some pretty serious financial crap right now and can't even afford to pay attention! But still, you'd think that if she needs them so badly, she'd make them fit into the budget!
