You know, one of the things I love to do is use Photoshop, Gimp, Daz 3D, and Paint Shop Pro to create graphics. But some things are still beyond me. ;) Things like seamless glass tiles and the like still elude me. I've learned a technique for making what looks like velvet and it looks pretty darned good if I do say so myself, but when I import it to Daz 3D to texture clothes with, it comes out looking like satin. *rolls eyes* Although the velvet/satin looks good on what I've put it on, so I can't really complain.
I do have a deviantArt account, ~gothicpeach so if you'd like, you can check out my first couple of scenes using Daz 3D and a few vector/vexel work and some other work I've done there. :)
Do you like to play with graphics programs and if so, which ones do you use?
A friend of mine asked me the other day if this blog gets any traffic. I honestly couldn't tell him, and then he asked if I wanted more traffic. I told him that I personally don't really care one way or the other, but that a couple of my other blogs could definitely use a traffic boost. So he told me I should try website directory submissions - basically start submitting my blogs to blog directories, my websets site to graphics site directories, etc to try and get more traffic to my sites. The thing is, I really don't care if I get any visitors or not. I don't really care if nobody reads my inane ramblings about this, that, or the other thing. It really doesn't matter to me. I think that surprised my friend.
You see, my friend is all about getting traffic to his websites. If he doesn't have traffic, he doesn't see the point in having the websites. It being a hobby or giving him something to do in his spare time is not a good enough reason. He's there specifically to get the people to view his website. Kind of interesting, isn't it? Some people care so much for the traffic they get, others could care less if anyone sees their blogs/websites or not.
Where do you fall? Do you crave the attention you get from people visiting your blog/site or do you not care, its' there because you like to mess with it?
Well, you know, I've been messing around in Gimp and PaintShop Pro Photo X2 lately, but I'm definitely not elite. You won't see me making banners to advertise the best weight loss product any time soon. LOL No one will be hiring me to design graphics for them. Although I do have a website that offers websets for people to use on their websites, and I just updated it tonight. I retired a few sets, am going to re-do a couple of sets, and then I'm going to have a lot of fun creating new sets.
At the moment though, I'm just listening to Rob Zombie, playing Hatchlings on Facebook, and doing a bit of blogging on my various blogs. :) Then it'll be bed time. If I can manage to get to sleep that is. :P Insomnia stinks. Take it from me. Tossing and turning all the time is not a nice way to spend the night, and yet my doctor won't do anything about it except give me suggestions that don't work. Bleh.
All right, well, Hatchlings is back up so I'm off to finish with Hatchlings and then see what else there is to do to get me sleepy. Nite!
Ever wonder how it is that people always have such nice outdoor furniture at the beginning of every summer? How it always seems to be brand new at the beginning of the year and then next year, it's brand new again? I'm thinking I've figured it out. At least I've figured it out in our neighborhood. I think people are taking advantage of the clearance sales at the end of the summer that the stores hold to get rid of their stock of all things summer. Of course, this makes sense, but what gets me is that people seem to do this with no regard for the fact that the furniture they're getting rid of is usually still good and probably could be used for at least another two summers if they keep treating it as well as they did in the first place. But then again, people don't think about that. It's "gotta buy new" all the time even if what people have is still perfectly good.
It sickens me to see how much people toss away when there isn't a need to do so, and how much people buy new things when they don't need them. :(
So I find myself spending a lot of time on the search engines. You know, Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. Mostly to see if I can find new plugins for Gimp, new brushes for Gimp, pretty much anything for Gimp. I've been using Gimp lately for making graphics. I'll bet you thought I was going to say I was searching the internet for the best fat burners, didn't you? Nope, sorry. Despite being a rather large person, I am not currently looking for those. ;) Right now, I'm just looking for some things to make my graphics pop. I found a few cool things - some brushes on Deviant Art and some plugins/scripts on both Deviant Art and Gimp's plugin registry. Sometime I'll post some graphics that I've done using the Gimp and the various things I've obtained via my searches. :)
