Ok, I don't know how I missed the fact that my dog peed on the carpet, probably when I was at work and he just couldn't hold it anymore, but the cat laid in it, (it's dry) and now he stinks like dog pee. Great, my cat stinks and will stink for a little while. I have some carpet cleaner that'll take the stain right up though. I got it for a buck at the dollar store and it works wonders. Why does the cheap stuff always work better than the expensive stuff? LOL
I got a new book today from PBS (paperback swap) and 3 more books coming. I got A NASCAR Holiday 2 today, and A NASCAR Holiday, A Pictorial Guide to Tarot, and a book on Witta are still coming. The en route thing for A NASCAR Holiday says it hasn't even left CA yet, but A NASCAR Holiday 2 was mailed from the same area of CA the day before A NASCAR Holiday was, and it's already here. So I'll just wait and see when it shows up. LOL Like I need any more books. ;)
Well, I thought I might do something with my stimulus check to make my apartment a little more home-like than it is, but then I decided to buy books instead. Go figure. :) The bookwork struck again, and I picked up books instead of the curtains I'd originally considered getting. I picked up a few titles like "The Secret", "The Dirt" (Motley Crue), "The Heroin Diaries" (Nikki Sixx), "Tommyland" (Tommy Lee), "The Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic", and "Ghost Hunters: William James and the Scientific Hunt for Life after Death."
Ok, I'm Wiccan, which explains the magic book and to a degree "The Secret" as it's been suggested to me more than once as a good book to look at for the Wiccan. "The Dirt", "The Heroin Diaries", and "Tommyland" are because I am a HUGE Motley Crue fan! :) "Ghost Hunters" is because I adore ghosts and hauntings. I'm a weirdo, I'm telling you. :)
I mixed up how I got the books though. I got a couple at our local Barnes & Noble store, 3 of the books I got at Barnes & Noble's website, and the other book I got a Amazon.com. LOL I was all over the place, wasn't I?
I've started "The Dirt" and it's a good one if you ask me. Of course, you have to be into rock band autobiographies to want to read it. "Tommyland" I've already read twice. Now I'm getting a copy to own. And "The Heroin Diaries" I've wanted to read since I heard about it. Woohoo. :)
Any books you're looking forward to reading?
Ok, I like reading Harry Potter, but frankly, I don't think we need a Harry Potter theme park. I can see Universal Studios' point of view on this, as I'm sure it will be very profitable, but still. Not exactly something I would be interested in. Maybe it's the Wiccan in me.
Which brings me to an article in yesterday's newspaper. A judge ruled that Harry Potter books would stay in a school library. A mother who was suing the school district to get them removed said she would have to take her case to a higher court. She insists that these books are assisting in indoctrinating children in witchcraft.
Ahem, let me correct you. There is no such thing as a transmogrification potion. There is no such thing as a tiny hourglass necklace that allows you to turn back time and be in two places at once. A wand and a couple of magic words will not make this or that happen. You cannot fly on a broomstick, it just doesn't work that way.
Considering there is nothing of real Wicca or witchcraft in these books at all, I cannot believe anyone would be able to say that a FANTASY like that was indoctrinating anyone in witchcraft. It's pathetic. If you don't want your child to read the books, simply ask the school librarian to disallow the child from borrowing them. End of story. But YOU do not have the right to decide what MY or any other person's child may or may not read or borrow from a school library.
