I play a bunch of the different apps on Facebook. For example, I play Mafia Wars, Vampire Wars, Demon Wars, School of Magic, Sorcerer of Darkness, Barn Buddy, Farm Town, Sweet Shop, Sea Garden, Lil Green Patch, and a few others. Games like Sweet Shop, Sea Garden, Lil Green Patch, and My FairyLand actually help you raise money for causes. However I have to be careful when playing the games. You see, Sweet Shop benefit's St. Jude's, which a friend of mine on Facebook is highly against.
She has a reason, of course. We all know St. Jude's treats children suffering from cancer and they state that they provide treatment regardless of ability to pay. Well, my friend's son had a fever of 106, and the closest hospital was St. Jude's. St Jude's found out my friend did not have insurance and refused to see her son. I mean really, come now. Don't advertise that you treat cancer patients regardless of ability to pay and insurance but then turn away a child with a life-threatening fever of 106 because they don't have insurance. It's not like they went in there asking for a fat burner pill. They went there for a legitimate medical reason! And were turned away!
Now I still support them for their cancer research but I can't help but wonder if there is more to my friend's story than what she told me about it.
You know, one of the things I never quite understood was the MySpace craze. Why everyone wants to be on MySpace. Or Facebook for that matter. Yes, I have accounts on both. No, I honestly don't see the reason why they're so big. I have the accounts so I can say I have them, but that's really about it. I don't particularly care for either of them, although I admit, I do more with MySpace than I do with Facebook. But still. The appeal, for me, just isn't there.
Sure, MySpace now has a couple of cool game-type apps that I like messing with - Heroes & Rockstars, but that's about it. Oh yeah, and I can say that I'm friends with rockstars, wrestlers, and other famous people who have MySpace pages, even though they never talk to me on MySpace and I don't talk to them. Amazing how someone can be your "friend" but yet you never speak with them. LOL
I don't know. I just don't understand the thrill of being on MySpace. Heck, I'll leave the same layout on mine for months before I bother to change it. Right now it has a Motley Crue layout and it'll probably have it for a few more months. My last layout was a blue fairy and it was on there for a few months too. I'm just not into changing it all the time like I see some people do.
As for Facebook, it's just not something I use. I can't really figure out how to go about using it, and frankly, the fact that no one can see your full profile until you add them as a friend is annoying. How do I know if the person I found is the right one? I mean, I have a friend named Heather Baker - but there could be 15 Heather Bakers in my city. If I can't see the profile, how do I know I have the right one? So yeah, I don't use mine very much, if at all.
Do you have a MySpace or Facebook? Do you use it a lot? Do you like it or is it just there to be messed with if you're bored?
