Who inspires you to be the person you are today?
Submitted by meuuy. To be honest, I'd actually have to say the Goddess. Frankly, looking around at the world, there aren't too many decent role models in the human world. The Goddess is who inspires me to try to be the best person I can be while still being myself. I don't talk about my faith much on this blog, probably because I have 3 blogs that are dedicated to talking about my faith. LOL However, it's hard to explain but the Goddess is my inspiration in all things. Whether I am writing, humming a little tune, reading my Tarot cards, reading a book, or just staring out at the world, She is who inspires me to do those things.
I guess you can now chalk this post up to the myriad versions of deity that inevitably you'll see people writing on their blogs in answer to today's question. :) I'd be willing to bet there are also a lot of posts that involve parents, grandparents, or siblings as inspiration. :)
In other news, I am scheduled (I think) to go to school on the 30th and take my computerized placement test and register for classes. I've already filled out my FAFSA form and received word back as to what I'm qualified for - which is exactly nothing other than student loans. A couple of years ago I was approved for a couple of student loans for an online school I was trying to get into, but I couldn't come up with another $1000 to pay the last of my tuition and ended up not going to school after all. This college is much less expensive, and I've got a UPromise account started up as well, so I'm hoping that I'll get something saved that way at least. I just hope that I can get the student loans, etc soon so that I know whether or not I can actually pay for school. If I dont' get the loans, I'm up a creek because that means solely out of pocket! I can't afford that right now. :(
What is the biggest lie you've told?
Submitted by lazywong.
The biggest lie I've told? Oh my gosh. I have no idea what that would be. LOL I mean, I've come up with some pretty interesting things in order to have a reason for making a payment arrangement for something, but as far as a big fat lie, I have no idea what I would use for that. I honestly don't.
I'm dreading tomorrow - because I have to work tomorrow. Back to that horrible place that I work. I guess it's not too bad - after all, I have a job and I'm getting paid a decent wage, but still. The atmosphere just isn't something I like. And frankly, for a company that says they don't like their reps to use scripts and so they don't provide any, they sure do have a lot of verbatim statements we need to say. Some of them don't even make a bit of sense. Like having us have the customers press 1 when they use a debit card - which does nothing but make a beep in our ear. They don't have to do it if they use a credit card, but they do if they use a debit card. But yet we don't ask them if they're using a credit or debit card. *rolls eyes* Yeah, I'm hoping to find a different job and soon. LOL
What was the best thing about your weekend?
The best thing about my weekend? That would probably be Sunday. Because I'm off. I work a 10 hour day, 4 days a week. I work Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. So truthfully, it would be Sunday that's the best thing about my weekend. Or maybe Saturday at 9PM, since that's when I get off work and don't have to be back until Monday at 10AM.
As a side note, there are people who should not be allowed to have credit cards much less a satellite radio system. Trust me on this one. Those people are out there, and they are many. I've had several over the past week. I understand that your credit card says we charged you today. What you're not understanding is that we don't have any record of you being charged. That being said, there is nothing we can do until it actually goes completely through on your credit card - then you can fax us a copy of the statement and we can fix the problem. What is so hard to understand about that? Sheesh!
What's your morning beverage of choice? Coffee, tea, juice? Homemade or store-bought?
That depends entirely on what I have on hand. I can't drink juice, so I never have that. Coffee on occasion, hot cocoa on other occasions, but usually water or soda are my choices.
Question: What the heck is Ashley Judd thinking? She's married to a race car driver, which is great. No problems there. But wearing a black sundress, heels, black sunglasses, and big, floppy, black hat to watch your hubby QUALIFY in? Um...no. NASCAR is a sport that practically requires jeans, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. You don't wear fancy clothes to the track. It just isn't right. Sheesh.
What are 10 things you want to say out loud but you can't?
Submitted by alix.To the customers at work:
1. If you know so damn much, why did you call tech support?
2. Trust me sir, it IS your router, now direct connect or I'm hanging up!
3. Kiss my ass!
4. F**k off!
5. Sure, I can do that for you, when pigs fly?
6. Do I SOUND like Super-Woman?
7. What planet are you from anyways?
8. And you called me on your digital phone WHY? I'm troubleshooting your MODEM which your phone GOES THROUGH, you moron!
9. If you insist upon bitching ME out for what Time Warner screwed up, could you at least have the courtesy to lower your voice?
10. Back away from the computer. Get a friend or relative to dismantle it and return it to the store. You are far too stupid/old to own it.
What's the best photo you took this year? Show and tell!
I have no idea. I haven't gotten any of my pictures developed yet. LOL
If there's one thing I have to say that I am glad of, it's that I am not moving any time soon. I don't want to have to look for a mover here, much less for a mover NYC. So I'll not be moving to NYC anytime soon, and I won't be moving HERE anytime soon. :) Just not in the cards right now. Right now, new books and a prosperity spell are what's in the cards for me. I'm going to be starting a week-long prosperity spell that will end next Saturday with a small ritual to end the spell. I have the necessities, I just need to start the spell. This should be fairly interesting as I've not cast a spell in a long time. I've done rituals for Esbats and Sabbats, but I've not cast any spells for a good 3 years. Well, we shall definitely see what this brings.
What's the best book you read this year?
My goodness, I read so many books this year, it's hard to pick just one. :/ I'd say the best one so far is the one I'm reading right now, but I'm only half way finished with it, so I suppose that one doesn't count. I'm sure I'll get more read this weekend though while I'm off work. :) Oh yeah, that's Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. It's the first book in the Chronicles trilogy of Dragonlance.
Tell us about your holiday traditions.
Submitted by Talk is Cheap.
Actually, since I live alone, my only real tradition is to purchase presents for my pets. Yes, I said presents for my pets. :) I'm weird, I know.
Right now, I'm more inclined to worry about when my W-2 forms will show up next month and how quickly after all my forms come in I'll be able to get my taxes done. I'm seriously hoping I don't need anything like American tax relief, because I'm needing to use the money I get back from my taxes to either buy a car outright or get a good start on a car and insurance. Hopefully the fact that I'm getting a 50 cent raise come January will help out as well. Then again, I need to get out of the financial BS I'm currently in before I can honestly think about getting a car I suppose. *sigh*
What's your favorite thing to drink when it's cold outside?
My favorite thing to drink when it's cold outside? Hot chocolate! :) Preferably one of the cool flavors of it that I see hanging around sometimes like French Vanilla.
Ok, one of my friends from when I lived in Texas used to hang out with a guy who was a pro-wrestler. Not big time for WWE or TNA, but an indie fed wrestler. He was a marginally cool guy, but I always found it odd that he never attempted to use any sort of bodybuilding supplements to make himself bigger. Of course after some of the things I've read following the Chris Benoit tragedy, I'm sure that places that sell that type of thing have seen a decrease in sales. I know they have around here, one of my coworkers came from a nutritional type store and said that sales had dropped so much since the Benoit thing, that they let her go because they didn't need the help anymore. Kind of sad really that legit things can get tarnished by what is done with illegit things.
Did you shop for great deals on Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Or did you observe Buy Nothing Day?
I did neither. I shopped for groceries on Black Friday, but nothing else, and I didn't shop anywhere on Cyber Monday. I see no reason to. What I plan on getting my friends for Christmas is easily found online and frankly, I can get the presents anytime, as they don't have to be delivered except for via email. :)
